3 Days of Hands-On Playful Activities to Build Core Mathematical Foundations in Early Childhood
Day 1 – Numbers & Classroom Foundation (July 9)
Master the fundamentals of number sense while creating an organized, effective learning environment. You’ll discover how children naturally progress through mathematical concepts and how to support their journey through play-based learning.
Day 2 – Geometry & Measurement (July 10)
Explore the often-untapped world of shapes, spaces, and measurement. Learn how to create differentiated learning experiences that challenge every student at their level, while maintaining engagement through hands-on activities.
Day 3 – Understanding Operation Structures (July 11)
Move beyond basic drills to understand how children naturally grasp mathematical operations. You’ll learn to bridge physical experiences to abstract concepts, ensuring your students build rock-solid mathematical foundations.

“Having done many of the lessons this year, I appreciated learning the “why” behind them. Knowing the research and process that went into the curriculum gives me a foundation for going forward.”

“I loved the Operations Day. It’s focused on thinking about the structures of addition and subtraction, “put together” ,”take apart” ,”part-whole” and comparison models. It is so important for me as a teacher to understand this in building a strong foundation around these addition and subtraction.

Meet Your Instructors
Donna Lamonte, Katie Hall,
Sarah Schaefer & Melissa Williams
Meet the Workshop Instructors—a team of powerhouse educators who turn math professional development into a transformative experience. Our instructors aren’t just passionate about teaching; they’ve lived it, shaped it, and raised the bar for math education nationwide.
Sarah Schaefer brings nearly thirty years of K-12 math teaching, co-authorship of the acclaimed think! Mathematics curriculum, and the creation of the Developing Roots program. She knows what teachers face in the classroom and how to help students truly connect with math. Donna Lamonte, National Board Certified and a Presidential Award winner, has spent over four decades inspiring early learners. Her expertise bridges the gap between research and real-world instruction. Melissa specializes in elementary education and learning differences, with experience in both public and private settings. Katie leverages 23 years as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and math interventionist, championing hands-on strategies that boost conceptual understanding.
Our team’s collective experience means we’ve seen—and solved—the challenges teachers face. Whether you’re looking for fresh instructional strategies, ways to reach diverse learners, or just practical solutions that work, our workshops deliver. We help teachers deepen their mathematical content knowledge and classroom practice, which research shows leads to better student outcomes and engagement (Heinemann Blog, FACTS Management).
Why choose us? Because our instructors have been there, done it, and come back to help you do it better. With decades of combined classroom experience and nationally recognized achievements, our team is the best in the industry. Our workshops foster collaborative problem-solving, boost teacher confidence, and ignite a passion for math in both educators and students (Newton College, Heinemann Blog).
