Ready to Spark Joy and Meaning in Every Math Moment?
3 Days of Engaging Math Activities to Deepen Understanding and Prepare for think! Mathematics in Your Classroom
Day 1 – Whole Number
On the first day of our virtual course, students jump into three interactive tasks centered around whole numbers. You’ll get to experience each activity as a learner before stepping back to reflect as an educator. We’ll break down the structure of a strong math lesson using the Anchor Task, Structured Discussion, and Reflection. By the end of the day, participants will also pinpoint several essential elements that every effective mathematics lesson should include.
Day 2 – Big Ideas Around Fractions and Word Problems
Participants will learn that a strong grasp of fraction procedures depends on a solid conceptual understanding. Another important focus will be the meaning behind fraction symbols and conventions, ensuring they are clear and useful for students. Teachers will also explore strategies to help students overcome common challenges with word problems. The lesson will highlight key approaches that can significantly improve students’ learning experiences.
Day 3 – Unpacking Fluency & Tools for Implementation
Day 3 begins with an exploration of fluency and its development across grade levels, blending practical experience with research. Next, participants will take a closer look at the think! Mathematics ecosystem, seeing how the Teacher Resource Materials, Student Materials, and [Math]odology Teacher Toolkit work together to support teaching and learning. The session will also cover instructional strategies that help make the best use of these resources, leading to smoother lessons and better student engagement. Finally, there will be a bonus session focused on building mathematical fluency, offering exclusive access to extra support materials and routines that enhance the core curriculum.
