3-Day Workshop: Essential Strategies for Teaching and Learning Mathematics

Day 1 – Whole Number Operations & Building Fluency (July 14)

Gain a strong foundation in number sense and learn how to create a supportive, well-structured math classroom. Explore how students naturally develop mathematical understanding, and discover practical strategies to guide their progress.

Day 2 – Fraction Operations & Introduction to Word Problems (July 15)

Discover why fractions often present challenges for students and learn effective ways to teach these concepts. Explore how visual models can bridge the gap between the verbal language of word problems and the symbolic language of mathematics, helping students make sense of both.

Day 3 – Advanced Word Problems, Assessment, and Lesson Planning (July 16)

Hear from our past students…

“I found it very valuable to see the difference small teacher moves can make in the learning students are able to show in a lesson. We all think we are teaching the same math lessons, but it is very clear to me now that the students are experiencing math differently in each classroom. Also, the chance to pick up on the language and style Ban Har uses when teaching and talking about math is always so beneficial and helps me change my teaching for the better.”

“My goal was to do journaling better. I like the journal communication pages. It has me thinking about what entries I can create to push my students. Learning the three languages of mathematics will help me too! I can give guidance to my students.”
