Instructional pages for each activity clearly outline the following: mathematics standards, learning trajectories, lesson materials, introductory discussion starters, activity steps, probing/extension questions, and assessment techniques.

Children’s storybooks are integral to activities throughout, and many activities include alternative presentations and extensions to meet students’ individual learning needs.

  • How would you recommend using the journals?

    The journals in the Teacher's Guide do not come with explicit prompts. We recommend viewing these journals as an opportunity for a descriptive type of prompt. Specifically, students can be asked to describe one method they used to solve the day's Anchor Task. This approach encourages students to reflect on their problem-solving process and articulate their understanding.

    Additionally, there are several journal prompts available in other resources. You can find more prompts in the student textbook, student workbook, and the Mathodology Toolkit. These prompts often address other types of journal writing, including evaluative, creative, and investigative prompts.
